O Keeper of Tasks:1 vs. Sharon:0

Have you ever had one of those days where you set out to accomplish a whole bunch of things, and nothing gets done? Today for instance, I set out to go to the studio and work on this dance piece that I'm showcasing in a month. Why did I just remind myself of that fact? Anyway, I get to the studio and the amount of cars in the parking lot reminds me that there is a master class hosted by a dance company from out of town. I totally forgot about it. I didn't even park my car. I drove out of the lot and headed for home.

I've lived long enough to know that trying to force things to happen is a waste of time and energy. However, why can't things happen when I want them to happen? Is there some kind of force or entity that decides when things are supposed to be accomplished? I imagine some bearded man in a robe holding a pen and a clipboard while standing next to a conveyor belt full of small victories saying, "Sharon, your two phrases that you were going to choreograph and integrate into your piece isn't next on the line yet. Next up is you cleaning out the refrigerator, buying songs on Amazon, and writing this blog. By the way, your reward for your accomplishments today is vegging out on the couch and watching reruns of Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert." Now that I think about it, that doesn't sound like a bad run for today. Maybe, I should cut Ye Ole Minstrel of To-Do Lists some slack, even if I feel that five seconds ago, he just tweeted, "Thwarted @sharondanzes yet again, #goodforme." Supposedly the lesson in this is that things happen for a reason. At least that's what I'm going to tell myself as I veg out on the couch.
